If you would like a free consultation, please contact us today !

At Angelakis Orthodontics we really love all of our patients, but we especially love children! Just like you, we know they are special and have their whole lives ahead of them – and just like you, we would love to play a role in ensuring that their futures are bright & that they will have a lot to smile about growing up.

We also know that kids are sometimes frightened to see doctors, and that parents don’t always know when their child is ready for treatment. We want to assure you that we will treat you, and your children with warmth and kindness, and that you will both have lost your fear of ‘teeth works’ once you have spent some time in our office.

When to get your child to an orthodontist ?

It’s a good idea to start looking for possible orthodontic issues with your children from as soon as the age of 5. If your child continues sucking his or her thumb after this age, he or she stands a good chance of developing orthodontic problems later. At this age your child should also start losing baby teeth. If it starts happening much sooner or later than that, you should definitely bring her or him to us for assessment.
If your child is around 7 or 8 years old and has crowded front teeth, please let us have a look.

This is also important: you might think it is just a phase when your child continuously breathes through his or her mouth, but this is rarely the case. Remember that when children chronically breathe through their mouths, it may impact on their dental and facial growth. It could also lead to gingivitis (inflamed gums) and halitosis (bad breath).

Lastly: if one or more of the following things apply to your child at any age, make sure you come visit us so that we can help: difficulty chewing and/or biting, speech impediments, teeth that don’t come together in a normal manner (or at all), and cross bites (shifting of the jaw when your child opens or closes his or her mouth). Also look out for, and seek help for your child if the child has protruding teeth, e.g. when the top and bottom teeth extend away from each other.

Why your child should see an orthodontist ?

Orthodontics is not only about teeth looking good! The most important reason to see an Orthodontist is to make sure the bite fits together properly. An incorrect bite can lead to gum disease, tooth decay, and even tooth loss. It can also lead to chewing and speaking problems, as well as cause headaches.

The sooner you can get your child to us for assessment and treatment, the sooner we can correct whatever problems may exist, and prevent others from happening in the future. We can correct thumb sucking, help to improve minor speech problems, regulate the width of upper and lower arches in the mouth if necessary, create more space for teeth in the event of crowded teeth and avoid the extraction of permanent teeth in the long run. If we detect jaw development problems early, we can guide the growth of your child’s jaw to help the permanent teeth to grow straight and beautifully; enhancing your child’s confidence levels and allowing more and bigger smiles.

We find teenagers fun to deal with at our practice. We know that they are often very busy and would much prefer to be ‘hanging’ with friends, listening to music or playing their favorite games (be they digital or physical ones), and we know that they are always interesting. Therefore – we try our level best to make a visit to our practice a pleasant and interesting one too.

As most baby teeth have been replaced by permanent teeth between the ages of 11 and 15, it is quite common for children to start wearing braces between these ages. Generally teenagers visiting our practice then don’t mind when told that they need to wear them, as many of their friends might be wearing them too. Although metal braces are still worn, there is a variety of styles and colors to choose from at our practice, making things more interesting. (We all know teenagers like to have choices!)

At Angelakis Orthodontics we understand this phase of huge change in a child’s life. We therefore treat each teenager with the respect and care that they deserve, while providing the very best orthodontic help and technology available.

We are really looking forward to meeting your teenager and impressing him or her with what he or she could look and feel like in a fairly short while with our help, no matter what might be required!

As adults there are many things that could keep us from going to an orthodontist or seeing someone about our health. We might be strapped for time, feel that it’s too much trouble, embarrassing or just that we have more important things to do and that it can wait.

The question we have to ask ourselves, though, is this: who looks at our teeth and smile most of the day? The obvious answer is – not us. The ones who see our faces most often are our romantic partners, colleagues, bosses, friends, children, bank managers, clients or customers, business partners and so on. The other side of the coin is that some orthodontic problems can cause us much discomfort – and being rid of them could make a world of difference to our lives.

When adults come to our practice we know that they have taken time out of a possibly busy schedule. We therefore value their time and respect the wise decision they have made. We will discuss the problem, do the necessary tests and mutually agree on the way forward.

Adults often consult an orthodontist for the simple reason of wanting a healthier mouth and the knowledge that they can give bright smiles without having to worry about what their teeth look like. They might also obtain orthodontic help because they know it will give them more confidence and improve their self-esteem. However – adult orthodontic care often involves correcting an incorrect bite that might make eating more difficult because the teeth don’t fit together as they should, teeth that are either crowded or too far apart (both opening up opportunities for tooth decay and/or gum disease), and abnormal jaw pain or pressure due to crooked teeth.

Whatever your needs and/or goals are, we are here to give you what you want and need, and will use our expert qualifications, experience, superior technology and the latest and best products on the market to get you where you want to be with your dental requirements. We also have a wide range of products that will enable you to have your teeth corrected without others even knowing that you are having it done!

Please feel free to get hold of us to make your dreams come true or relieve you from your discomfort, and allow us to create a beautiful smile or restore proper function of your teeth and/or bite.

Special needs

At Angelakis Orthodontics staff has a special place in their hearts for children and adults with special needs – and also those who take care of them. They help to keep us grounded and grateful, and we try to give back to them by treating them in an extra special way.

Special needs patients may have dental, behavioral or restorative needs which may require additional attention and specialized care. With this in mind, we go out of our way to make a visit to us as relaxing and pleasant as humanly possible, while performing our jobs completely efficiently in the least disruptive way that we can. It is very important to us that both our special needs people and their caregivers can leave with smiles on their faces.

When you contact our office for an appointment and mention that you are someone with special needs or are bringing in someone with special needs, please know that all our staff is experienced in this area, and that you will receive the best possible orthodontic and general care that we could possibly provide.
